Saying "prove you are NOT a scam" is like someone posting something about YOU on the web, out of a grudge, competition or jealousy, that says "Bob Smith is a convicted Felon, pedophile, domestic abuser and criminal." Now someone asks you: "prove you are not." Can you see the subtle burden of proof shift here? Your accuser is anonymous, posting libelous, slanderous and defamatory things about you on the web, and like a coward, hiding behind the First Amendment to trash talk you. If someone accuses you of being a Felon or worse, THEY have the burden of showing that you are. But in the upside down world of the web, HOW in heaven's name will you PROVE that you are NOT a felon?
You can produce a million documents saying that you are wonderful, and your accuser can still say: BUT WAIT, that felon document could still be out there somewhere! See the disconnect? Even though this is moronic, we still get folks saying "this post says you're mean, prove you're not" etc.!! Our answer: will YOU please (or ask them to) give US the evidence behind their false statements! (Shifting the burden of proof back where it belongs). We do prosecute false posters when we identify them (usually jealous competitors or establishment professors, especially, paradoxically, in the area of counseling), but they are not always easy to identify.
